2. BRAIN: The brain of your Marketing is the strategy. This isn’t boring, it is vital. The strategy assesses where your business is today, and what goals you have for it. It makes a plan how Marketing will help get you there. It defines success and determines how you measure it. The time-line. How your story will spread. What platforms, media and content you use, what you want them to achieve, and how many resources you spend on them. It analyzes your industry, market, and competition. It determines your audience: Who they are, what moves them, and how YOU can move them. It determines how you define yourself as a company: What you stand for, how you show up in the world, what you want to be recognized by and loved for. Don’t let ANYBODY tell you that you can do Marketing without a strategy. Ever!

3. HEART: Your “target audience” are people. They are human beings with a story, passions and dreams, messy kitchens, bad hair days, and moments of blissful peace. They are people who cry, laugh and worry, get mad, fall in love, and strive for growing. They’re smart, too. And they can tell real from fake. Don’t sell to them. Show them that you care.
